I purchased these boots and they just sit in the closet. I was really hoping to get good quality leather with schott with there reputation being great but these boots were bad from the start . The fit isn't horrible but the materials and leather in not quality. The boots have a hard toe box that when cleased created this ugly bulge looking top portion of boot. The foam insole started to fall apart and break down super quickly. The heel pad got unglued and is flapping. And the leather on the boot is coated and not a real quality leather. Normally when you scuff a leather your able to brush it add some conditioner and scuffs aren't too noticeable but with the coating these boots have they just look real bad.they don't patina like a quality leather.Just a heads up to anyone considering these you may want to reconsider.

Will start by saying for the price, they are decent boots. These are the lowest cost ones I have bought. Own engineer boots from Red Wing, Whites, Nicks, Wesco and imported Japanese ones. Wanted a low-cost pair to wear just for messy yard work and such. I could not get my foot into these boots with boot socks, dress socks or even bare feet. Some of my others are difficult but doable. Donating these and maybe someone with a lower instep can wear them....lol

I have been wearing engineer boots for almost 50 yrs. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give these a 6 here’s why: leather is on the thin side, but decent quality, welt is leather but mid-sole is plastic, outsole (vibram) is fine, heel is definitely too low (personal preference) and is not traditional ”logger” profile, heel is stacked plastic, insole is cheap foam trash, vamp lining appears to be leather.

These are similar to modern Frye construction, which is not very impressive. They’re light and more of a dress-casual construction. I would not consider these good protection on a motorcycle. The price is reasonable for the quality. Mine (new) are at the cobbler getting a 1-3/4” stacked leather, logger heal put on them ($60)

Great engineer boots

Good quality, great fit and they look fantastic. Best part: price is only $300, which is a lot lower than most engineer boots.

Inconsistent Quality

To start, I ordered the boots in black and a half size down from my normal boot size, they fit well. The boots shipped after 10 days. Maybe I just got unlucky, but right out of the box, the toe and heel shapes of the boots were different. The right boot toe and sole were noticeably rounder than the left. The right heel was squared off and the boot hung over the welt, while the left boot heel was rounded and did not hang over the welt. I wish I could attach pictures to this review, but I sent them to customer service and was just told to follow the return process. The leather quality seemed good, but there were marks and scrapes/gouges in the leather. If these were $150 boots then I could look past it, but from a reputable brand at this price point, the quality is unacceptable. A “Made in USA” tag loses its appeal when the quality is this poor.

Great fitting boots

I was a little apprehensive about buying these boots because I have never had pull-on boots before that were comfortable. These boots, however, fit me perfectly. They are very comfortable. I have pulled them on bare foot several times to walk my son to the bus stop in the snow, take out the trash, etc. and even bare foot they are comfortable. I ordered my normal size (9.5 US), and it was correct. I have a narrow heel and high arches, so your fit may vary.

My Favorite Boots

These are brilliant Engineer Boots. I have a fair amount of riding boots—Harley, Double H, Frye, Sidi—and these are the my favorites, no question. They are comfortable, well made, and stylish. Honestly, everything about them is top notch, and the color is just as pictured. I have very small wide feet so I sized up one size, and they fit absolutely perfectly. I will replace them when they wear out, and like them so much I went and bought a pair of the Schott Service Boots in the same color, and love them as well.

Simply Great Boots! Wow

These boots rival my favorite Chippewa Engineer Boots from the 70's and 80's - and at such a reasonable price point, too. I cannot believe how exceptionally well made they are. They fit great and look cool. Super happy with this purchase!

Great!

These are beautiful boots, don’t be discouraged if they don’t fit properly at first, I had to go and purchase a combo boot shaft stretcher and instep stretcher. 2 days in the stretcher worked beautifully. These fit like slippers after the short break in period. The leather is high quality, and I like that these are lighter than other brands. No regrets here, my go to everyday boots now.

Uncomfortable boots.

These pair of boots are probably the most uncomfortable boots/shoes I ever worn. There is a step in between the arch and the heel on both sides that makes them uncomfortable
I pulled out a black leather tab inside under the heel with the schotts log and that made it a little better but not much. I installed a pair of insoles but I still feel that the step under my foot is still there. Horrible construction. They should stick to jackets only. The leather is great, probably same as the jackets but there is no lining inside the boots like most of the other brands. The size was correct. I wore boots of the same style so I knew my size and I did not have to exchange them. I should have sent them back. I do not recommend them. I knew there was a reason why they were so cheap compared to other brand. You get what you pay pay. It was a waste of money.

We’re really sorry to hear that you’re not completely satisfied with your boots. If you believe there may be a construction issue, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at customerservice@schottnyc.com
- we’ll be happy to take a closer look and make it right if there’s a problem.

We’ve received a lot of great feedback about the fit and comfort of our boots, and many of us here wear them daily - they’ve become a staple in our own wardrobes. While our boot line is relatively new, we’ve partnered with a U.S. factory that brings decades of experience in quality bootmaking, and we stand behind the craftsmanship.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts - we always appreciate feedback that helps us keep improving.

Best,
The Schott NYC Team

Good boots

Great product for the price
I wear size 9.5 shoes
Ordered size 9 and the fit fine
Just remember that you are buying a 300$ pair of American made boots, the stitching is a lil off and the sole wasn't perfectly round at the tip of the toe box. But then again for 300$ I don't think you can get much more. Good pair of boots for daily chores.

Crazy Horse Cray Cray

I just bought the Crazy Horse Engineer Boots and they are Amazing! Tight when I put them on. I could not get them off so I bought them. Wearing them all day they broke in very nicely. I’m still going to need help getting them off. lol But it looks like I made the correct choice in sizing.

Awesome Boots

Got the crazy horse in my normal boot size and the fit and comfort was spot on. Will purchase more. Don't down size like what others have mentioned.

GREAT BOOTS

Got my normal size and they fit great. They are comfortable with very little break in. I got the crazy horse ones and will be buying more colors.

Also they aren't heavy on the feet like other brands.

Olive is Awesome

I ordered these 10’ inch Engineer boots in olive after seeing a YouTube video. The buyer in the video was a bit critical of stitching and overall finishing but none of that bothered me. I’ve been wanting a pair of this style of boot for several years but wasn’t about to pay three times the prices of these for a pair. Got them two days after placing the order. I immediately put them on and couldn’t believe how comfortable they are. I sized down a half from size 12 to 11 1/2 and it turned out perfect. No problem putting them on or taking them off either. Do yourself a huge favor and try a pair, you won’t be disappointed. I wonder what the next color will be for me. Possibly the Sienna

Great Engineer Boot

First off the customer services is awesome. I messaged them about the sizing and they were able to help my get my size based on boots that I own. The size was spot on! I love the black leather, pretty thick. Right out of the box I put a pair of leather insoles that helped with the fit. I've wore them to work as soon as I got them, no problems at all with comfort or breaking them in. I have gotten compliments everyday about them. They are definitely worth the price. I just need a brown pair now. Thank you for a great product and service.

Great boot at a great price

It is hard to find an engineer boot so it is a relief knowing that this is such a great one. As other reviewers have said I had to go down a full size from 10 to 9, not the half size suggested, but once I got the right pair they have been fantastic. It is a substantial boot and will need some breaking in, so make sure you have the correct size before wearing them out of the house.

The boots feel great, they look great, and I receive lots of compliments

I had an initial problem with an abnormally high arch in the right-hand boot, but Schott worked with me to ensure I got boots that fit me well. Both the boot and the customer service are great.

Looks great but has one huge problem

On the positive side, I like the quality and overall look of these boots. It’s hard to find engineer boots in brown so I was excited to get these. However, after wearing them for a few months, I started noticing a strong smell similar to ammonia or cat urine after wearing the boots all day. (I do not own a cat.) I own quite a few pairs of boots and rarely wear one pair more than two or three times in a week. Just in case it was some sort of fungal problem, I stopped wearing them for a many months and tried anti fungal treatments. After I started wearing the boots again, the problem quickly returned. It’s a very strong smell and it’s bad enough that I’ve stopped wearing the boots

Looking around on the Internet, I see that people have reported a similar issue from a number of shoe companies. Apparently it has something to do with components in the insole breaking down and creating ammonia. I tried contacting customer service and they said they had never heard of this happening with these boots. If you do buy them, I highly recommend reaching out and asking them if they are still using components that cause this problem. I would also wear them as much as possible during the return period see if it happens to you as well.

Leather and insole materials can sometimes react differently depending on environmental factors, wear conditions, bacteria, and storage, but this is not a typical occurrence. If any customers ever experience concerns with their footwear, we encourage them to reach out to our customer service team so we can assist with a resolution.

Schott Black Engineer Boots

First off let me say I had to size down from and 11.5 shoe/sneaker size to a 10.5 for these engineer boots. I sent them back and got the smaller size and they fit great going down the full size. The leather quality on these boots is very nice. The boots are well made and my only complaint is that some of the
sole stitching and boot stitching is a little wonky and the sole sanding is off on a few spots. Overall for the price of these boots compared to other more well know companies these stand up pretty well and I would suggest picking up a pair if this is the style of boot you are looking for..

My husband loves them

I'm really happy I found these, they are excellent and less expensive than other brands but the quality is magnificent, he says they are better than other American brands he has tried. Thank you so much for these beautiful boots. Such a win!!!!

Good fit

These boots fit great right out of the box (half size smaller than sneakers). They look excellent, good quality inside and out. The souls are the best with a rider in mind, easy to shift gears. I just need to wear and break-in. Although in this Texas heat they are too hot. (August) The price is good for this quality of boot and I would recommend and buy again.

I have them in the black and crazy horse colors. They do run 1/2 size to big. So called them got the return label no questions or problems at all. Customer service is awesome! Next is the one in olive color. Looks nice! I ride my Harley in them and perfect riding boots. Compliments everywhere I go either on the bike or just wearing them out. Highly recommended. ??
